A living room set is not an inexpensive purchase, and many want to save money any way that they can. There are many things that you can do in order to save on a set, including the following strategies.
Look at the less expensive stores
Some furniture stores are simple more money than others. For instance, you can often get good deals at City Furniture and Rooms To Go. Other stores might have similar products that they mark up more. Look for the stores with the better offers.
Look for less expensive brands
Sometimes a brand is more simply because it considers itself more “exclusive.” That doesn’t even mean that it is necessarily better or will last you any longer. You can try to avoid these brands.
Look for sales
There are many sales that go on at furniture stores. These often occur on holidays, with one of the best being on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. If it is near to a holiday, then you might want to wait. Also, they will often list their sales on their websites or through mailers, so you can scour these regularly to see when your living room set goes on sale.
Consider buying something that is pre-owned
Just because a living room set is pre-owned does not mean that it is not good. Sometimes people purchase something and then suddenly have to move, so you might even get something that is like new for a fraction of the price that it originally cost. You can look at garage sales or estate sales. People will often list these on www.ebay.com and craigslist. You may want to more seriously consider the offers that allow you to pick up because the freight for shipping these might cancel out any savings you could receive and then some.
Look for items that are on clearance
Living room sets go on clearance just like any other item. For instance, City Furniture has a large clearance showroom attached to their main corporate office in South Florida. Sometimes the items are completely new. Other times they were floor models and still other times they may have slight damage (which might not even be noticeable). Many other stores offer similar deals, and will sometimes have a special sell-off event on floor models when a lot of new models are coming out. Also, if a furniture store is closing, you might be able to get a great deal on a living room set.
