Why Children need to be Allowed to get Dirty

Some parents get upset every time the tiniest smudge of dirt appears on their children. However, it is very important that they be allowed to get dirty. In fact many consider it an essential part of childhood.
The children may not be able to play freely if not allowed to get dirty
A lot of things that children do involve getting dirty. For instance, it can be pretty hard to pay on a playground if they are not allowed to get dirty. It can be difficult to make a sand castle or swim in a small creek. These fun activities are part of the fun of childhood. It is great to be able to run around and not worry about anything but the fun that they are having. If you always need your children to worry about every little thing then they may feel like they have to hold back. You want your children to be able to have fun with wild abandon because these are often the memories that we hold most dear as we grow older.
Your children may resent you
Thankfully, most parents do not mind that their children get dirty. If you are very restrictive on your children, however, then they may start to resent you for it. They may see that their friends enjoy more, and may think that you are too strict or not paying attention to their needs. Your relationship with them might suffer because of it.
You want your children to grow up feeling free and not afraid
Even adults get dirty at times. It is all part of fun and feeling like you do not need to worry about every little thing. If you teach your children that it is not okay to ever get dirty, then they may carry this with them as they grow into adults. They may end up being more uptight individuals. They may have less fun and feel like they have to more restrained.
Why not?
One of the biggest reasons to let your children get dirty is because there is really not a good reason not to. It is why they invented showers. It is easy enough to clean up a child and they will be sparkly and clean, but glowing with the memories of a fun day.
It is important to let your kids be kids and part of this might be getting dirty. The above reasons highlight the importance of this.
