Volunteering
Many people celebrate the winter holidays, and a lot of that is about giving. One great activity is to have your child volunteer with you. There are many different volunteer activities in local areas such as assisting at a nursing home or at a library. Even just visiting with those who have no one can be a great activity. You can also have them pick out things to donate to charities like Toys for Tots. You can teach your child a valuable lesson and do some good at the same time.
Playing in the snow
If you live somewhere where it snows, then playing in it can be a great activity. You can go outside and build snowmen with your children. You can have a snowball fight. You can make snow angels. If they are old enough they may enjoy going sledding or skiing.
Winter jobs
You can give even small children a taste of what it is like to earn a little money. You may want to let some kids work on some house chores to earn a little extra pocket money.
Holiday activities
Many people celebrate holidays such as Christmas or Hanukkah. Many of the winter activities focus on these. You can go caroling with your kids. They can help you put up decorations. They can also make holiday items like their own dreidel or menorah.
Vacation
Some people choose to take vacations with their kids during the winter break. You can go on a cruise to a warm resort and give your kids memories to last forever.
Winter camp
Many different organizations offer winter camps, which are especially useful if your children are young and you work. You can look for something that is of interest to your child such as a gymnastics studio if they take classes. Many of the cities and religious organizations also offer camps.
Explore the local attractions
Many parents do not visit the wonderful attractions that are practically in their own backyard. You can go to a local zoo, museum, or other attraction.
