Your boyfriend opens his Christmas gift, and you can see the forced smile on his face. “Th-thank you,” he stammers, but you can tell that your gift has been somewhat less than a bull’s-eye. You will want to avoid such an experience.
Tie
How many ties can one guy have? No matter how attractive it is, if he already has way more than he needs, then he might not want to add another one to the “pot.” It may just sit in his closet with all of the others in a “tie party.”
Socks
You may think that you are doing him a favor by getting him something practical, but most guys do not really want socks for Christmas. Even if they need them, they are far from exciting, and they may like to pick out the exact brand and style they like themselves.
Sweater
That sweater may look oh-s-o-adorable, but does he really need another sweater? Also, consider whether he even wears sweaters. Some guys might want this, but do not just get him something that will hang in the back of his room all year long.
Kick-knack
You know what these are. That little penguin might seem oh-so-cute at the store, and you know that he likes penguins, but would he really want to display such a thing? Just because he likes something does not mean that he wants a miniature version of it staring at him. Also remember that a lot of guys have clutter already, so you may want to be careful about adding to it.
Pen
Unless you are getting a truly special pen, your boyfriend may not want a pen. He might have quite a few already. They may get lost easily anyways, and he may not want the stress of needing to worry about being careful with it.
Manicure kit
Not too many guys actually do their own nails. He is likely to get teased if someone catches him at work filing his nails. You may see all of those kits during Christmastime but resist the temptation. Guys who do like manicures may get one professionally done anyways.
There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to picking out your boyfriend’s Christmas present. Although most of those listed above are probably not going to be a favorite, even they may work for someone. Consider your boyfriend’s preferences when picking out his gift.
