It can be a challenge to decide whom to invite to a bridal shower. There is no one right amount, as it will depend on the bride as well as the organizer. The following is a guide to deciding whom to invite to a bridal shower.
Make a budget
The first thing you will want to think about is how much money you want to spend on the bridal shower. Think about all of the different costs including all of the extras such as party favors, decorations and of course food. This is important because all things being equal, it is generally more money for extra people. If you have a limited budget you might have a more limited guest list and need to be more selective in whom you invite.
Invite the female members of the bridal party
In general, you will be inviting the female members of the bridal party. Of course, the bridesmaids should be there and anyone else who is important enough to be in the wedding party or take part in the wedding somehow.
Go through the guest list
You will want to scour the guest list. Some people who have a lot of money and space will just invite all of the females who are on the wedding invitation list. Other people will just cut it down to those who are closer. Besides the budget you will want to ask the bride how big she wants it to be. She might not want a big bridal shower, even if she is having a big wedding. Obviously more than anything you want to cater it to what she wants.
Think about the close female family members
In general most bridal showers include only women. You will want to think about the bride’s family members as well as the groom’s family members as well. You will want to invite people who are close to the bride. It is not just the technical relationship that she has, it is how close she is actually is to them. For instance, she might be very close to a distant cousin that you would want to invite but not keep in touch with an aunt.
Think about her close friends
You will want to invite friends who are close to her. She will be the best one to tell you this. Then you can go through the rest of the people on the list. Think about whom else you need to invite in groups. For instance, you might not be able to invite just some of her work colleagues, it might be all or nothing or someone would get insulted and that can have ramifications for your bride later on.
Once you come up with your list, go through it once again (as well as the people you didn’t invite) to see if you want any changes. By following the above tips, you are more likely to come up with a good list on whom to invite to a bridal shower.
