: Bulletin Board Ideas Attendance

:
(424 Words)
It is important for primary school students to attend school as much as possible. They should only miss school for important and legitimate reasons as laid out by the school board (i.e. they are sick). A bulletin board can help teach the students all about attendance. Consider the following ideas of creating such a board.
“Why it is important to attend school” bulletin board
You want the students to understand why everyday attendance is so important. When a student misses even a single class, they can fall behind, and it can be more difficult to catch up. Although they can get the homework from the day, they may not understand how to do it. You can write out these points on the board. You can do it as a class project by going up there and having the students come up with the different ideas on why attending class regularly is important. In addition to writing them out, you can also show pictures, such as a child working on their homework and looking frustrated. You can even have the kids help out by posing for such pictures for the bulletin board.
“Students with great attendance bulletin” board
Another idea is to highlight those students who have great attendance. You can put up their pictures and their names. You can change these every month to the students that attended all of the days of the previous month so hopefully all of the students will get up there at one point.
“Valid reasons to miss class” bulletin board
Some students may not understand the right and wrong reasons to miss class. You can have two lists up on the board, one giving the valid reasons for missing class such as sickness and the other giving the invalid reasons such as didn’t complete your homework and doesn’t want to get into trouble.
“What can happen if you miss class” bulletin board
Some kids do not take attendance seriously. They may not know what can happen if they miss too much class or the trouble that they can get into. You can write these out.
When you make your attendance bulletin board, there is no reason to limit it to just one of the above ideas. You can combine several to present more information to the students. Also, you can use brightly colored paper such as wrapping paper for a background so that the board is attractive and stands out. With work and creativity, hopefully you can have a great bulletin board that influences children to attend school.
