A Western theme can be a great subject for a bulletin board. Consider the following tips for creating this board.
Make a scene of the Wild Wild West
A lot of kids love the Wild West and might enjoy seeing a scene from that. You can make the bulletin board look like it is a desert scene. Horses are a must for such a board. You can show a cowboy all decked out with a big hat. You can paint or draw such a scene or get pictures from other sources. You can also have the kids chip in. For instance, you can have them each draw a cowboy in a horse on a piece of paper. You can then cut these out and attach it to a scene that you make so that the bulletin board can be a creation of the class.
Talk about the climate and other environmental characteristics of the West
You can have the bulletin board be very educational with a lot of information about the West. You can talk about some plants often associated with the West such as cactus. You can discuss some of the weather patterns. You can use a combination of pictures and writing, geared of course towards the age of children.
Show stories that take place in the West
The children may be familiar with some stories or shows that take place in the West. You can have a picture of Clint Eastwood up for instance. You can put on book covers or replicas of movie posters that are related to this area.
A bulletin board highlighting different Western cities from the past and present
You can highlight the different places that have become famous such as Tombstone. You can show pictures of the towns as they were in the past and as they are now. You can write about how things changed and didn’t change. You can also write about special aspects and happenings in these places such as the Gold Rush.
Put up embellishments
You want the children to be drawn into the bulletin board You can actually put up items instead of just pictures. For instance, you can put up parts of a cowboy outfit such as a cowboy hat or a pair of chaps. You can use art materials to make a cactus that comes out from the board.
A bulletin board about the West can teach history, culture and more. Consider the above ideas when creating your board.
