It can be challenging to decide which friends to invite to your wedding. Each person can add a cost to the wedding, especially when you usually invite a mate and sometimes even children. Also, you might fall into the “I invited this person so I have to invite that person and then that person” trap. There are different things that you should consider when deciding which friends to invite. The following are tips on how to make this choice.
How close are you to the friend?
Obviously this will be your biggest consideration. You are much more likely to invite your best fiend since three than the person you wave hello to as you pass in the work cafeteria. Truly think about your relationship with everyone, deciding whether you are close enough that you want them to be there when you get married. Also, inviting them could even potentially make you closer while not inviting them might make you more distant if they take it as a sign that you are not good friends.
How big of a wedding are you having?
If you are having a gigantic wedding and have a big budget, you will obviously be more liberal in choosing your friends. If you are having a very small wedding then you will have to be more careful when picking. Some people have a big budget but only want their closest friends to be there while others would prefer to have as many people there to celebrate as possible.
If you invite one person whom else will you feel obligated to invite?
Sometimes we have groups of friends where we might feel like we have to invite everyone or no one. You should consider that when deciding whether to invite a friend. Perhaps you would invite the one person if you could get away with it but then you would insult ten other people.
Are they expecting to be invited?
You might want to consider whether they are expecting to be invited and how it will affect your relationship. Some friends might really want to be invited and be so upset and insulted that it could literally end the friendship. Other people really might not be expecting it at all. You can even start a huge problem between other friends if you are not careful. Also, consider who invited you to their wedding.
