You may be having just a little bit of dessert, but even a small amount can be very unhealthy. Many people do not realize just how unhealthy many restaurant foods are for them. Even something that sounds healthy can be bad. You may think you are doing great by ordering a salad, for instance, but if you add salad dressing, croutons and bacon bits then you may as well have just ordered the burger. You may want to get an idea of the amount of calories you should consume. Make sure that it is realistic and not so low that you will need to worry about eating disorders. The calories you will need to consume will be based on a variety of factors such as your gender and activity level.
Keep track of what you eat and stick to your goals
You want to reduce your calories and cut out unhealthy foods. Look to delete desserts from your diet or eat healthier ones such as fruit. You may want to keep a food journal so that you can really plan how you are going to implement your diet in order to lose weight. You want to be sure to stay with your diet. If you eat a little too much at one time, then do not take that as a free pass to eat unhealthy for the rest of the day. In that one day, you can set yourself back quite a bit. You should also try to limit going out to eat as much as possible since it can be hard to stay on a diet then. If you do, look for restaurants with healthier fare. Ask for their nutritional information.
Be active
You may also find that your weight loss program is much more effective if you increase your activity level. Try to exercise at least half an hour most days of the week. Try to walk more on a daily basis.
Keep track as you are losing the weight. Remember that losing a pound or two a week is effective. It can be difficult to lose it quicker and you may just gain it back.
