Of course, you want your college interview to go very well. It can influence the interviewer to make blanket judgments about you, and you want those to be the right judgments. Heed the following attire tips.
Dress in business attire
You may want to dress as if you are going on a formal business interview. Men can wear a nice suit and a tie. Even if it is not required, you generally cannot go wrong by dressing this way. When you look smart, you may portray yourself as more confident and the college interviewer might think that you are more capable. They may also think more highly if you spent the time to really make yourself look nice.
A woman should consider wearing a business suit as well. She may want to avoid wearing anything that looks too provocative. Do not show too much cleavage or wear a very short skirt. You want the interviewer to see you as a professional and not as a teenager trying to look sexy.
You may want a mainstream suit that is not too “out there.” Even if you love the color teal or hot pink it might not look professional and the interviewer might not think you are adult enough for their school. Although there are a lot of fun ties that men can wear, go with something more conservative for the interview. Again, you want to distance yourself as much as possible from high school.
If you do not have a suit see if you can borrow one. If not then just try to dress as professionally as you can such as in a sports coat or at least a tie.
Wear appropriate shoes
No matter if you are wearing the nicest suit in the world, you will not look professional in worn sneakers or flip-flops. You want the shoes to be appropriate and go with the outfit. Women should not wear ridiculous heels that look like they were more meant for nightclub than a college interview.
No matter what you wear, you want to make sure that it is clean. It should be wrinkle-free. Also, you can add simple accessories to embellish the look. Do not put on anything too gaudy. Women can wear pantyhose if they like, but in these modern times it is not necessary.
