Luxury Bedrooms on a Budget
You can have a luxury bedroom on a budget if you are careful and clever. Consider the following techniques.
The mattress
A lot of people consider having a very comfortable mattress as a large part of how luxurious their bedroom is. There are many ways to save money on posh mattresses. First, price around to the different mattress stores because some will be far cheaper than others. It can be difficult to compare the exact mattresses at two stores because mattress companies will take the same mattress, put two different covers and names on it and ship it to two different stores. However you can usually get an idea of how generally expensive or inexpensive a place is. Oftentimes you can get a great mattress at a less expensive price point if you buy from a less expensive brand. Also, you can make your mattress feel softer without spending a lot by getting a very soft and thick pad for the top.
The linens
Expensive looking linens don’t have to actually be expensive but can improve the look of your bedroom. For instance, shop at a place like Anna’s Linens, which is much less than many of the mainstream stores. If you shop at Bed, Bath and Beyond, you should take advantage of the many 20% off coupons they offer. You can look at outlet malls like Sawgrass Mills Mall. Take advantage of sales and clearance.
The furniture
You want expensive looking bedroom furniture on a less than luxury budget. There are some furniture stores that sell bedroom furniture for much less like City Furniture and Rooms To Go. City Furniture has a huge clearance section in South Florida as part of their corporate headquarters, and they sell inexpensive bedroom furniture. A lot of it is new and just discontinued. Costco also sells bedroom furniture that looks luxurious but is much less. You can also look at flea markets like the Swap Shop in Sunrise, Florida. You can also look for pre-owned but nice looking furniture at garage or estate sales.
The floor
You can make the floor feel luxurious without spending a ton on wall to wall carpeting. Instead look at a discount source for a nice rug.
Add accessories
There are many tasteful accessories that can add luxury to a bedroom. You can look for these at furniture stores.
Another strategy is to get one major piece that is expensive and luxurious for your bedroom but then get more reasonably priced items for the rest. For instance, perhaps there is a big beautiful wooden bed with a canopy that would just look amazing as the centerpiece of the room. You can splurge on that but then spend very little on the other items at discount stores. The bed might stand out so much that it makes the room seem great, even if the rest is rather average.
If you want a luxurious bedroom you do not need to spend an arm and a leg. The above tips can get you the look you want at the price you can afford.
