A two story house is preferable to a lot of people as compared to a one story house. Consider the following reasons why one might like this style of house better than a ranch style.
You can often get more house for the money
When you look at two story houses as compared to those with one story, you will often find that you can get more square footage for the money. For the same size house you do not take up as much land yet you can still have the exact same size back and side yards. This can sometimes result in cost savings. Some will buy a two story house based on this value alone.
They like the exercise a two story house provides
Some people actually like walking up and down stairs because they find that it can help keep them fit. If you are always going up and down the stairs, you will burn calories, which can be beneficial for a lot of people’s weight loss goals. It can also just help keep you limber and active, which a lot of people like.
It can keep the bedrooms and other areas private from the rest of the house
When some people have guests they do not like them among their private bedrooms and bathrooms. They might enjoy that having a two story house gives them a haven from others. No one will accidently walk into their bedroom or use a bathroom that they would prefer to keep private. They will only have to worry about cleaning the downstairs.
It might make things quieter
When you have kids that go to bed early, you might want to do everything you can not to wake them. This might be easier in a two story house because you might be able to be further apart and keep the noise lower.
It is what is available
In some areas, two story house houses are more common. You may find a development that you like that has much more availability in this area. A lot of times, the larger houses are two stories so it may be easier if that is what you are looking for.
There are many reasons why a two story house may be better than a one story house for a lot of people. One or a combination of the above reasons may be motivating you towards this style of home.
