(415 Words)
When October comes, you may want the children to do an art project to celebrate. There are many different projects that would be fitting for this time of year, including the following.
Pumpkin related project
Pumpkins are a large part of October. One idea is to have the children paint a miniature pumpkin. Some of the kids will be too young to carve a pumpkin, so this can be a fun art project that they can do and that they can display for the Halloween holiday. There are paints specifically made for pumpkins that do not rub right off. You can let them freehand paint it or they can use stencils.
They can also make a clay pumpkin. You can first get some clay. They can then shape it into the form of a pumpkin. Some types of clay will harden on their own or you can fire them if you have access to a kiln. You may also be able to paint some pieces afterwards.
You can also just have them do an art project on paper. You can give them art tools like crayons, markers and paints. You can also give them glue and embellishments like glitter, beads, rhinestones and feathers and have them attach them. They can draw a large pumpkin. They can also make a scene showing how the landscape and trees are during this time of year where they live.
Halloween related art project
Halloween is a large part of what happens in October. The children can make a craft related to this. For instance, they can make themselves a Halloween mask. They can take a round piece of thick paper and cut out space for their eyes, nose and mouth. They can then decorate it however they want (that you approve) such as an animal or a character from a children’s television show. You can attach a rubber band to the back to allow it to stay on. They can also draw, paint or color a Halloween scene such as witches, a haunted house, etc.
Fall related art project
October is a fall month, of course, and this can be incorporated into your art project. They can make a collage with the colorful leaves of the season. They can make a picture of them as well. They can decorate different items such as apparel or wooden items like picture frames.
There are many great art projects that students can do in the month of October. Consider the above ideas.
