It is important for kids to learn good hygiene so that they stay clean. There are many different things that you will want to teach them, and many techniques that you can employ in your lessons. The following are some teaching tips to help preschoolers learn hygiene.
Have them role-play practicing good hygiene
You can have them show how they would practice good hygiene in the class. For instance, you could do a lesson brushing your teeth. You can then have everyone stand up and pretend that they are brushing your teeth. You can have them pretend to do it for the real amount of time that they are supposed to do it for and teach them to look at a clock to make sure that they do it for the correct amount of time. You could do the same things with other hygiene-related things such as taking a shower.
Have them do a craft related to hygiene
You can have them do a craft. One fun craft would be to make a big toothbrush. You can get some sort of stick such as an inexpensive ruler. Then they can use construction paper and other materials to make the head of the toothbrush. They can keep it to remind them of how important it is to brush their teeth. You could also have them do the same thing with a hairbrush or comb. Another run thing to do is to have them make and decorate a soap on a rope. They can take a bar of soap and you can attach a rope to it. Then they can decorate it with paper, sequins, glitter or other decorations to remember how important it is to use soap.
Make up a game about good hygiene
You can have them play a game about good hygiene. You could put them in groups and quiz them about different principles related to good hygiene. You can ask questions such as how often should you brush your teeth. You can keep going through the questions until most of the children know the answers. You could give people a small price related to good hygiene.
Have them draw a picture of good hygiene
You can have them draw a picture of them brushing their teeth or performing another act of good hygiene.
Have a class discussion
Talk with them about the importance of good hygiene. Have them come up with reasons why it is so important. Let them be active participants in the discussion.
