Wearing Thick Versus Thin Belts
Belts are an extremely common accessory for women, and you will find all different types. One big distinction is whether to get a thick or thin belt. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.
Comfort
What is most comfortable is up to you. Many women find that a thin belt is more comfortable because it is lighter and can be felt less around the waist. You may barely know that it is there. A thick belt can be a lot more substantial and may feel heavier. If you are wearing both tightly around the waist or hips, then you will probably be more uncomfortable with the thick belt since it covers more of an area.
Slimming
Both thick and thin belts can help you look thinner but in different ways. If you want it to look like you have a very tiny waist then consider a thick belt, suggests Women’s Health. Wear it tightly around the waist. If you have a dress than they flairs out, you can cover up the hips and any lower stomach issues.
A thin belt can also cinch you in to give a more fitted look. You can take a flowing, shapeless dress and bring it closer to your body. This works well with tunics and long shirts.
Practicality
A thick belt might be able to do a better job depending on what you are wearing. A thin belt might not be able to hold the fabric as well as something thicker.
Ability to work with different outfits
The different width of belts work better or worse depending on what you are pairing it with. For instance, if you have a fitted dress and you want to add something substantial then choose the thick belt. If you have a piece of clothing like jeans that has belt loops, you will need something that fits in it.
The look
A thick belt will be much more noticeable than a thin belt. You can use one with crystals to jazz up a formal dress and even a wedding dress. It will stand out more. A thin belt might blend in more with the outfit. Of course if that’s the look you want, then it will be an advantage.
Consider both the pros and cons of thick and thin belts when choosing the right one for you. Most women have both versions in their wardrobes to use for different looks.
