A gift certificate can make a great 2010 Christmas gift, and you will have your choice of many different ones. If your recipient is a college student, then you might want to look for certain specific businesses, taking into account his or her personal preferences. Consider the following ideas.
Gift certificate to a grocery store
Your college students may be going through a lot of food at college. He or she might want something that is very easy to use, and a gift certificate to the local grocery store might be just that. It might be like just sending them cash, which they might appreciate.
Gift certificate to Target
If they are in one of the many locations of the country that is close to a Target then this might make a great place for which to get the gift certificate. They offer many different items that college students need. It will be very versatile and probably get used quickly without the person needing to try to figure out what to buy.
Restaurant
Many college students love to go out to eat. They may be used to home cooking and not quite have the hang of cooking on their own yet. You can choose a favorite restaurant of theirs. Some gift certificates are actually good for several different types of eateries.
Credit card gift card
You may really not know what type of gift certificate your college student would like. One great option might be to get one from a credit card such as a Visa gift card or an American Express one. These can be used anywhere those credit cards are accepted. The only hitch is that these often incur a service fee whereas others usually do not.
There are many different places where you can buy gift certificates. Almost all businesses that offer them will allow you to come into their store and get them. Sometimes they have a specific denomination that you have to buy but other times you tell them what you want to put onto it. Also, there are many general stores that sell an entire slew of gifts cards. For instance a lot of grocery stores such as Publix has an entire area filled with them so you can choose what you want. Other general stores have similar items. Also, many businesses will offer the gift certificates on their websites. Many times they will ship them for free to the college student that you are giving them to (although some do charge).
When Christmas of 2010 comes along, you may want to get a gift certificate for your college student recipient. Consider the above sources for such a certificate.
