Do you want to do something drastic with your bedroom? Whether you have a lot of money to spend or just a little, you can give your bedroom a complete makeover. The following are tips on how to accomplish this.
Get an idea of where you want to go
Before you start to makeover your bedroom, you will want to know what you want to make it over into. Of course, these plans can be fluid and you can adjust things as you go along, but careful planning can help you avoid putting in a lot of work only to end up with a result that does not leave you pleased. You can look through design books to see the types of furnishings and changes that you might enjoy.
You will also want to make a budget. You do not want to make all of these plans or your new bedroom, get started and have to stop halfway through because you ran out of money. There are many money-savings strategies that you can employs such as looking in discount or thrift stores, repurposing items and looking for items on clearance.
Consider the walls
A large part of how your room looks has to do with the walls. You can make an incredible difference in your room just by adding a fresh coat of paint. You can also use wallpaper on its own or in conjunction with paint. Different colors portray different things and give different feelings. A soft color may make the room seem light and spacious. A bold color might seem chic and fun.
Also consider changing the artwork on your walls. There are many pieces from which you can choose. You can buy new pieces or swap out with pieces from another part of your home. You can put in recent photographs of your family.
Consider the floors
Think about the floors of your room. Of course you can change the entire floor such as putting in new carpeting or wood floors. If you do not have the money or time to do this, then even a new big area rug can change the entire look of a room.
Consider the furnishings
Changing the furniture in your bedroom can make a huge difference. You can look around for new furniture to give it a different style. If you don’t have the money you could even consider repainting the furniture that you do have for a different look. Perhaps you could use stencils to paint little flowers or other designs on it.
There are many other things that you can change when making over your bedroom. New window treatments can make the room look very different. You can look for new accessories for your desk or dresser. Just cleaning everything up if your room is messy can make a big deal as well. Combine all of the above changes to give your bedroom the makeover you desire.
